Superintendent's Weekly Memo - November 27, 2024
Dear Mustang Families,
As we continue our Thanksgiving preparations, I know that we are all in high gear. If you haven’t already begun to thaw your Thanksgiving turkeys, I encourage you to start! We are all making countless trips to the market, because we forgot just one more thing - that’s what happens when the holiday season rolls around.
While celebrating Thanksgiving, one of my favorite holidays, my hope is that you all take a moment to be thankful. I’m most thankful for our students, staff, and families of Mustang Nation. When cherishing the good things that the overwhelming majority of us have, may we not forget the less fortunate. This holiday season, Mustang Nation has stepped up to the plate again to generously give back to the community.
Our Andrews Middle School was one of our many school communities to embrace the giving spirit this season. Yesterday afterschool, students and staff helped create over 100 Thanksgiving baskets for those in need.
Earlier in the day, our McGlynn Elementary School community finished off the 12th Annual MES Thanksgiving Food Drive! Students helped hand off non-perishable and monetary donation items to the Medford Family Network, who came to the school to thank our students and collect the items.
I would like to send a warm thank you to our families, caregivers, students and staff for your great generosity. Collectively, your hard work has enhanced Mustang Nation for the better.
Come one, come all to the longest continuous high school football game in the world! Yes, indeed, it is the 137th edition of Medford vs. Malden! For those who are able to, we would love to see you cheer on our Medford Mustangs football team, cheerleaders, marching band and color guard at tomorrow’s Thanksgiving Day game. Some rain is anticipated in the forecast, but don’t let the weather stop you from attending!
The game will kick off at 10 a.m. at MacDonald Stadium in Malden. Tickets will be available for purchase at the gate for $10. Visit Here for a live stream of the game put on by our MHS Film & TV Production CTE students.
This weekend, the Medford Band Parent Organization will begin their 10th Annual Christmas Tree and Holiday Wreath Sales starting Saturday, November 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The sale will be held in the parking lot of Medford High School. Additional dates (pending item availability) include Sunday Dec. 1, Saturday Dec. 7, Sunday, Dec. 8, Saturday Dec. 14 and Sunday Dec. 15.
As a final reminder, our schools will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 28 and Friday, Nov. 29 in observance of Thanksgiving.
