Welcome to the start of a very exciting year! Students will begin with a “Kindergarten Mini Day” on Thursday, September 3rd starting at 9:00am. This will be the first opportunity for your child to officially meet their teacher, see their classroom, and meet their classmates! It will only be a short visit where the students will get to know each other’s names and create name tags for their cubbies!

The McGlynn Parent Teacher Group (PTG) will be hosting a Kindergarten playdate over the summer for incoming kindergarteners and their families to meet and learn about the McGlynn PTG! The playdate will be held on Tuesday, August 25th at 5:30pm-6:30pm on the McGlynn playground. 

The first day of school for Kindergarten will be Wednesday, September 9th, 2026.  School will begin at 8:25am and end at 2:45pm. These will be our school hours every weekday! The first day of school may seem a bit hectic, so here are some things to keep in mind:

• You will have to say goodbye to your child at the front door/main entrance every morning. Staff will escort your child in the school building and line them up with their classmates and bring them to our classroom shortly thereafter. If you need to come into the school for any other reason, you will have to come in through the main entrance and sign in at the security office directly to the right of the front doors.
• All of our classrooms will be NUT-AWARE! Tree nuts, peanuts, or any products containing nuts are NOT allowed in our classrooms! However, food containing nuts is allowed in the cafeteria for lunch. Thank you for your understanding!
• Your child will need a morning snack and drink from home each day! You may want to remind your child what is their snack and what is their lunch! If possible, please label their lunchbox on the outside, as many children have the same design.
  • Water bottles are always welcome! Please label the water bottle with your child’s name on it to prevent any confusion. Please make sure it has a lid and is not glass. The children will be able to refill their bottles and keep them in their cubby and can get a drink when needed.
• Our school has a Universal Breakfast Program, which will be providing every child in our school with a free breakfast every morning. This is optional. This program benefits children especially who are not able to eat breakfast at home. Please feel free to have breakfast at home with your child if that is part of your daily morning routine! Starting on Thursday, September 10th, breakfast will be given in the cafeteria every morning.
• Upon arriving in our classroom on the first day, we will help your child hang up their jacket and backpack on their cubby hooks. Please pack their snack and lunch separately (with snack and lunch both labeled if possible.) The teachers and our classroom assistants will then help your child get settled in!
• Please make sure you send in an extra change of clothes including a clean shirt, clean pants, clean underwear and clean socks. These articles of clothing should all be labeled with your child’s first and last name and should be in a labeled plastic bag or container or shoe box. We will keep these clothes in their school cubby all year in case they are needed.
• Please be on time when picking up your child at 2:45pm! -- It is very comforting for them to see your face when they walk out the door! We will be dismissing children from our classroom back doors. We will release your child after making eye contact with you. Children going to our Afterschool Program will be picked up from their classroom by an Afterschool Teacher, and then brought to the Afterschool room (the music/band room on the first floor of the elementary school side.) Children taking a bus will be escorted to the cafeteria and exit on a bus from there.
• Your child will receive a blue McGlynn folder. This is our communication folder and it needs to come to and from school every day. Important school notices, homework packets, various flyers, etc. will go home in this folder. Please be sure to empty out your child’s folder every day, as they need it to last all year!
