Andrews and McGlynn School Summer Construction Update

Andrews and McGlynn School Summer Construction Update

Please see the letter below from Consigli Construction about the ongoing HVAC and roof work being done at the Andrews and McGlynn Schools.

Residents & Parents,

Consigli Construction would like to provide a project update for both the Andrews & McGlynn
School upgrade projects:

Exterior Plaza & Sidewalks: Throughout the summertime, work was completed on the main
entrances and egress points of both the Andrews & McGlynn. The purpose of this scope was to
upgrade the schools for code compliance with handicap visitors, as required per the Americans
with Disabilities Act. You will see temporary handrails at locations of future metal railings, until
those railings are fabricated and installed. At the McGlynn School, exterior concrete work will be
ongoing at the rear of the building at walkways and the kindergarten classroom egress plaza.

McGlynn School – Kindergarten Roof Leaks: Throughout the summertime, work was
completed to remove existing brick façade & begin to remedy the existing leaks at the
kindergarten classrooms. Work will be ongoing after the return the school, however, the
demolition and loud, disruptive work has been completed.

Existing Cooling Systems: The existing cooling systems have had modifications made to allow
for better cooling capacity in both the Andrews & McGlynn buildings. The existing systems,
slated for demolition and replacement over the course of the next year, will not be high
performing but will provide a higher level of comfortability in the buildings.

Upcoming Work to Expect: The next steps of the project will be the installation of structural
steel on both the Andrews & McGlynn schools to support the new HVAC units, as well as a new
roof screen at the Andrews School. After the completion of steel, these new units will begin to be
set on the rooftops. Consigli will work closely with the administration and town officials to
coordinate this work.

The project team appreciates the coordination and cooperation of the neighborhood. Thank you
again for your continued support.
